Gonzalo Higuain To Return To Action In April

Real Madrid attacker Gonzalo Higuain could return to match action early in April.

According to a report in AS, Real Madrid attacker Gonzalo Higuain could return to match action again in the first weeks of April.

The Argentina international underwent surgery in January to shake off a back problem and was initially expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. However, the attacker's recovery is going very well and he could make his comeback within four weeks.

Higuain recently resumed individual training and the attacker now works eight hours per day on his rehabilitation program at Madrid's training centre Valdebebas. The forward reportedly did some exercises with the ball at the weekend without feeling any pain.

Madrid are now hopeful that Higuain will be match fit in time for the Primera Division clash with Barcelona on April 16, meaning that he could also feature in the Copa Del Rey final against the Catalans on April 20.

AS even suggests that the 23-year-old forward could be match fit in time for the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League on April 12-13. However, los Blancos will have to get past Olympique Lyonnais first in the round of 16 before thinking about an eventual quarter-final date.
