Spanish Football Federation Confirm Mestalla As Venue For Copa Del Rey Final

Valencia's Mestalla stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the Copa del Rey final.

 El Gran Clasico

The Spanish Football Federation have officially confirmed Valencia’s Mestalla stadium as the venue for the Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Real Madrid on April 20.

The home of Los Che has been selected ahead of alternatives that included the Santiago Bernabeu and the Camp Nou, both of which have larger attendances, but it was decided to secure a neutral ground to host the showpiece event.

It is thought that the clubs will be provided 20,000 tickets each for the fixture, with the remaining seats in the 55,000 capacity stadium being withheld for dignitaries and distribution by the federation.

The Mestalla previously hosted the final in 2009 between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, for which the two sides were provided 18,500 tickets, but Real Madrid’s director of relations, Emilio Butragueno, confirmed that he had requested an increase for this Clasico meeting.

He remarked: “Demand is going to brutal, and we have asked for effort from the Federation. They have said that they will look at this issue with affection.”
